First Post and A Giveaway!

Woo-hoo! My first blog post! =) I've wondered lots what to write about, but I'm just gonna go w/the normal: Hi, I'm so-and-so.

So.... Hi! As you've probably already deduced my name's Leandra. I'm a 28(soon to be 29- yikes, how'd that happen?!) wife and mom living in central IN. Second to reading I love to write, and hope to start querying my YA historical fantasy this summer. The dream is to one day be a stay at home mom and writer. Can I get a woot-woot on quitting the day job?! ;)

I primarily read YA, some of my fav authors being Maggie Stiefvater, Garth Nix, Patrick Ness, and Suzanne Collins. My fav not YA authors are James Herriot(my Mom introduced me to him when I was a kid and I've been hooked ever since- he wrote about animals and people equally well) and Marion Chesney, one of the best Regency writers out there, in my humble opinion.

One of my fav places to visit on the web if I'm not writing(I should really do more of that and stay OFF of the web- ah, the irony in that I just said that in a blog post...) is QueryTracker, particularly the forum, lots of great and helpful people on there! Also Goodreads and Etsy and Pinterest. I won't even go into how many hours I've burned through on Pinterest...

Now for the give away I mentioned! I'm weird in that I like to package things and mail them(maybe b/c I love getting packages in the mail- it's like Christmas all over again!) and one of the things that I always thought looked fun about blogging were give aways. So if you'd like to receive this:

in a cardboard box with your name on it(oh, the excitement!) all you have to do is leave a comment. Then tomorrow at twelve o' clock(eastern time zone), I'll randomly pick a winner and announce it here. In case it's hard to tell, the above pic is of a shadowbox w/the saying done in foam stickers.

Awesomesauce!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my ramblings!

*Shew, first post under my belt!*

  1. Hi Leandra,
Congrats on your new bloggy thing! (I think it's so cute how you're shy even when nobody's watching.)
So, how do you write with all that hair? I can't concentrate without mine all pulled out of the way and I don't have near as much as you. In fact, the tighter my hair is, the better I can think or do anything. I always wanted a room of books with a rolley ladder too, and a loft with a fancy railing that goes all the way around so I can hide up there and drop things on people reading scary stories and scare the crap out of them.
    Regards,
    Angela (oldbag)
P.S. I have a thing for ampersands too.

    1. I especially like awesomesauce 'cuz I am a sauce sort of girl. Sauces make everything better! The best steak in the world only tastes better w/A1. My husband doesn't agree w/me...

  5. Thank you! I've actually got a goody from Etsy on its way to me right now. I really liked the typewriter mug that you got from there. ;)
