What's Your Best Book Haul?

Next week I'm going to the Half Price Books book sale at the Indy fairgrounds- and I'm so excited! I'm hoping that I come back with some good deals like I did a few years ago. Look:

I love that the last book says 'The End'- how great is that?

The whole A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, for...wait for it... $13! Which means, since there are thirteen books that I got them for $1 a book(I hate math, but even I had no prob figuring that out. Now if it was Train X was traveling at 30mph and Train Y was traveling at 55 mph-yada-yada-yada- that'd be a different story).

And this year, I'll not only be shopping books for me, but for my kidlet too. I can't decide where I'll be heading first- the picture book section or the young adult section. Can I be cloned, please?

So what about you all? What's the best book bargain you've found that's made you weak at the knees with joy? =)

  1. I love bargain book shopping. It's my favorite activity.

  2. I LOVE bargains, or "steals," as much as the next person. But as a person on the other side (an, ahm, published author) I also know that the only income for most authors (post advance, that is) is the royalty from new books sold. That's the other side of it, a comfort to me when I pay full price...;)
And yes, we paid full price back when the Unfortunate Events where all the rage, and DS was a fan(atic)~~~ Fortunately Mr. Handler (A.K.A. Snicket) has done very well.

  3. There are few things in the world I love as much as buying books. They're like little treasures chests, so full of exciting promise. It's a delicious feeling to get home and go through your new purchases to decide which one to read first. I know you'll have an awesome time at the fair! :-)

  5. You can't beat .99 cents! I use Amazon alot to find Marion Chesney's books. I'm addicted to finding the ones that have the pencil drawings on the covers(or at least what looks like pencil), just like the ones I used to check out at my library as a kid. In fact, I just finished buying The Traveling Matchmaker series- they're slowly tricklig in by mail...

  6. I'm jealous. I don't have a bookstore by me. We used to have Borders, which had a great bargain section. I got a bunch of hardcover books fro $1.99. I miss that.

  8. My latest book haul was from BookExpo America. I had a small suitcase so I was very discerning, but still managed to come home with twenty-eight free books. My TBR pile is so pretty ;)

  10. I lucked out at a library booksale in Russellville, Ky and got twenty Bobbs Merrill Childhood of Famous Americans Series for 10 cents apiece! (For my library for my grandkids.) That was a "steal" and I felt guilty, but I exited quickly before anyone changed their mind.
