Five Things On a Friday

Here's a few things about this week...

1.  As much as I love painted furniture-- I don't like painting it. It's a pain. And at this point I don't really care how my yellow desk turns out. It's yellow. That's all that matters. And has cute knobs, darn it.

2. Diet is a dirty word.

3. Due to my critique partner's book, the phrase 'the lady in blue' keeps popping into my head(Grunge Gods & Graveyards will be published in the spring from Red Adept Publishing.) And if such a great title has you curious about Kimberly, she can be found here: http://kimberlyggiarratano.com/ and here as well: https://www.facebook.com/KGGiarratanoAuthor?ref=profile. Anyway, the 'lady in blue' is making me want to break out the drawing pencils-- something I haven't done in eons.

4. Desk, I will not give you three coats-- I refuse!

5. 'Tis Friday and tomorrow I start vaacaatioon. *cue Handel's Messiah and pantomimes conducting to the hallelujah chorus...but then flails about less enthusiastically as she remembers that vacation also equals more painting-- like a whole room!*

Boo.

  1. Take a day to be 'paint-free'...a yellow desk sounds like a cheery work station.

    1. I think it will be. I've fond memories of my grandmother's yellow kitchen, so I hope it'll work the same! =)

  2. Why am I thinking your desk will get three coats? ;)

    1. LOL! It started to- and then I ran out of paint. It must have been the universe speaking...

  3. Seems it's time for that final coat and going on vacation, ey?
    P.S.
The Lady in Blue is an awesome title, I agree. Any connection to your painting duty is subliminal, no doubt.

  5. Have an awesome vacation!! And when I think about painting, all that ever comes to mind is that bit in Tom Saywer (or is it Huck Finn?) with the fence painting. It looks way more fun than it is :) Good luck--and post pics of your desk!

    1. Yeah, the best paint jobs are the ones my husband does! =) And I'm planning on doing an office reveal, prolly sometime in Oct. I can't wait to show it off then!

  7. Have a wonderful vacation, and remember, diet isn't only a dirty word, it's a four-letter dirty word!

  8. Enjoy your vacation! (And I agree with you about 'diet.') :)

  9. Have a great vacation:)(Totally agree with diet:))

  10. Yay vacation! You can call it a...lifestyle change, instead of a diet...no so evil, huh? At least it doesn't have the word die in it!

    1. Lol! So far my lifestyle change is eating a granola bar for breakfast, some chicken for lunch and then once evening comes- everything in sight! And, of course, who can diet on the weekends?!

  11. Have a wonderful vacation, Leandra! Please share a pic of your yellow desk when you are ready. Yes--"diet" is the worst word EVER. If you ever hear of a diet plan specifically for writers, let me know--weight issues seem to increase with productivity! One of my favorite Lit. professors shared once that she gained 30 lbs when writing her dissertation...I totally get this now! = )

    1. Sitting 'butt in chair' for hours on end certainly will do that to you! And I definitely can't wait to show off my desk. =)

  12. Enjoy your vacation, Leandra! I'm curious about 'the lady in blue' now, too.

  13. My husband is a painter, so I've never had to paint anything. I leave that all to him. I do hope your desk and your room come out the way you hoped.

    1. Oh, lucky you! My husband used to be a window cleaner...but I never had clean windows, lol!

  14. I always love the finished product of painting, but the actually painting is the hard part. Love it when a CP's book hit the mark like that. AWESOME!

    1. Finished the desk and started on the room last night. I would paint twenty desks as opposed to that one room! It's horrible...and I've only got one small section of wall primed. =( But yes, Kimberly's book is super great! =)

  15. I hope everything soon ends up painted the way you want it. (Makes note to leave her desk the colour it is)

    1. Lol! It's now been painted for over a week now, and it's still tacky! Guess I'll have to make sure I put everything exactly where I want it and not move it. And I'll not even go into how annoying it is putting contact paper in all the drawers. All these DIY blogs make it look so easy. *grumpy face*

  18. Ugh. Diets.
Spending so much time sitting at a computer, I have to be conscious not to just snack all dang day. So I try not to think of it as dieting, but I'm just kidding myself. I'd love to eat cookies all day.

And I love painting. Just not finishing. There's always a bunch of extra thins like touchups and junk. Booring.

    1. I am diligently trying to ignore the touchups. ;) And oh, cookies! Those little round crumbly disks of goodness are like calorie bombs, lol!
