My Critique Partner's Cover!!!

Today I get to share with you the cover of my critique partner's book, GRUNGE GODS AND GRAVEYARDS. I'm pretty sure that besides her, I was most excited about getting to see this baby. Yup, move on over, Bob, you get to be third excited- or maybe fourth, after her mom. =) So let me stop rambling for a sec and let you see the purdiness.

SQUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Okay, squeeing aside, lets get down to business here. First, there's the misty element to the artwork, giving it a definite ghost tale feel. Next, one of my fav cover elements- silhouettes! Do I ever love my silhouettes. And pay close attention to Lainey here on the cover: she's wearing headphones and is holding some type of CD player. Perfect for a novel set in 1996 about a music-loving girl.

Then there's the gravestones- spooky! And the font which just looks rockerish, with the added bonus of the pops of red. Plus, the tag line? The word 'tethered' is a perfect word for evoking a ghostly longing to still be a part of the living world. And last but not least, there's Kimberly's name at the bottom. Lookin' good, my friend, lookin' good.

So here's where I would normally post the blurb. But guess what? I'm hoping you'll just bop on over to GG&G's Goodreads page where you can read all about Lainey and Danny. It'd be stupendously awesome if you'd help get them out into the world by marking GG&G to read. Also, the very last line of the blurb is just exquisite and makes me all swoony. *siiigh* =)

  1. Thank you! Thank you! The cover looks so purdy up on your blog! And I think you are the 2nd most excited person about the cover. My husband only gets super excited about football season. Everything else takes a back seat. LOL.

  4. It looks great! The "G"s remind me of dragons (and thorns, which was probably the intention).

    1. Haha. The G's reminded me of dragons too, but there are no dragons in the book. Definitely some brambles though.

  6. Remember: it's "GRUNGE GODS" AND "GRAVEYARDS" not GRUNGE, GODS, and GRAVEYARDS. A hard-learned lesson for some of us...

  17. A very eerie cover and I love the alliteration. The cover looks rather like my local English cemetery.

    1. So it's probably weird, but I love wandering through cemeteries, especially the really old ones. Tho it's sad seeing how so many of them died very young. And wandering through an English cemetery would be so cool! Yah, I'm a dork.

    2. The alliteration is my favorite part too!

    1. Thanks! Writing for a small press meant I was asked about my vision and the tone/mood I wanted to convey on the cover. I think it fits the bill perfectly.
