Ready. Set. WRITE! (Week 11)

1. How I did on last week's goals: Almost 100%. My goal was to write six days, and I did five. And I didn't put out an amazing word count either, but regardless, it was still forward progress, so yay!

2. My goals for this week: I haven't done word count goals in a while, so I'm going to set one for 2,500.

3. A fav line(s) from my WIP:

Lo's sitting in a chair, looking over my sketches of the farm. It's cheap entertainment for him, sniggering over my renditions of the well, the cow pasture, my attempt of the ducks searching for bugs in the yard.

"Is this...dog poop?" he asks.

I don't bother looking up. "Ducklings."

"Oh, yeah. Totally...totally see that."

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week: Just other things going on. I helped my sister-in-law w/a party she threw, and that was a bit of a distraction. As well as switching our TV provider. For a (limited, I'm sure) time, we have all kinds of channels we normally don't get. And book adaptation movies are my weakness. Such as: The Book Thief, Beautiful Creatures, Mortal Instruments. I have them all recorded now! *cackles*

5. Something I love about my WIP: The friendship between Tam and her cousin, Lo. They grew up more like brother and sister.

  2. Yes, forward progress and consistency are more important that word count goals, I say! And, with that said, I just went back and edited my own goals for the week. lol Great snippet, too! Hope you have a wonderful and productive week! :)

  5. Hahaha, I love the cackle with the recording. :D

I understand distractions! My daughter's birthday is on Friday and I'm still steeling myself for the onslaught of 15 preschoolers I'm anticipating. I may need to take a vacation after that...

  6. I am all about forward progress these days, regardless of word count. I made great forward progress last week. I expect a little less this week, since I'm unsure about the next events in my plot. I'll be satisfied if I know where I'm going by the end of this week, regardless of whether any words get added.

    1. I thought about trying to record that and then missed it. =( I haven't read the book(books?) so I don't know much about it. But I love stuff set back in time!

  16. I used to love book adaptations, but now I feel like it's just a repeat of what I read. I wish I still got that same thrill when I saw a movie after reading a book.

    1. There's nothing quite like book thrill. :)

  17. Writing five days is like a normal work week with the weekend off, so that's good! Your excerpt made me laugh out loud. Dog poop is always funny, but I especially like Lo's response in the last line. Good luck getting 2500 words onto the page this week! :)

    3. I hadn't even noticed, lol! But I do the same thing, I always have to correct myself in the comments too. B/c I don't want ppl thinking I'm dumb, gasp! ;) This from the girl who's forgetting her times tables. *cringes* I need to buy some flash cards.

    1. This is actually the 2nd time we've switched in a month. We went to a smaller company that's not as well known, and I hated it! It was not a good product at all. So now we're back w/one of the big 2 and it's so much nicer. Not wanting to throw the remote through the TV screen is a nice feeling, lol!

  23. Haha! I've actually enjoyed not having TV out here. I was never a big TV watcher, and we haven't had cable for over 5 years, so I doubt we'll get it again when we move back. Sometimes it helps when you don't know what you're missing. ;) Good luck with your goals this week!

    1. I usually only watch TV on the weekends w/the hubs, but having all these channels(w/book movies!) has proved to be a big temptation... =)

  25. Hey, great to meet you, looks like you're doing good on the moving forward thing. The snippet was funny and touching at the same time, and reminded me that I need to scan my latest sketches to share them with y'all. ;) Hopefully you won't mistake the portrait of my mom for dog droppings!!
