Three Things on a Thursday

1. I saw this article in Publisher's Weekly, and it really struck my fancy. I can just imagine ppl coming to see a cookbook author make some fancy appetizers while sipping wine and mingling. And I love that there will be a fiction food section. I am a sucker for novels that feature food, especially desserts. I bought The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake b/c I'm enamored of the title-- plus, I love lemon desserts. And this book, The Coincidence of Coconut Cake, I want for the same reason-- awesome title and cake. I totally think these two authors should go on tour together. Similar, pleasing titles + they both have the same first name (Amy & Amiee). Someone get ahold of their publicists!

2. For those of you whom are SCBWI members, have you seen these book launch party pages?
Looks like a lot of fun. You can click on each page to view it in more detail. They make me think of an interactive scrapbook page. I really hope I get to do this someday! I don't think it's out quite yet, but sounds like it will be soon.

3. And how about the recently founded Indie-Visible? So far I've really enjoyed their articles, and it looks like if you're an independently published author (self-published or small press) then you can submit to be featured on their website. Free publicity for the win!

K, so that's all from me today, peeps! May life be lovely and filled with words!

  5. I like reading about food in books - and writing about it. My characters tend to eat quite a lot.

    1. Yes, the Twitter and Facebook ones do. You would have to be glued to your computer for the allotted time, I think, or else risk missing something!

  17. Lots of great things to read. I went to a booksigning where they had bags of chips and sodas. Nobody seemed to mind at all! I had snacks at one of my events but I can't remember for the life of me what they were.

  18. It just so happens that I'm working on a YA novel that is food-related. Ooh, I love that there will be a fiction food section too. You know, since I'm with SCBWI, I think I got an email recently about how members can get a discount to PW. Your post reminds me that I should look into that.
